Life Groups
Small groups are an intimate way of expressing our church life. These are groups of around eight to twelve people who meet in homes each week to work out God’s purposes for us at Gateway Baptist Church.
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John10 v10
Since early 2021, we have started to use the term Life Groups to reflect the core purposes, which are outlined below. These groups generally meet within the locality of their members. We would encourage you to join one of these groups as it is the best way to become integrated into the life and work of the Church. You can contact the Church Office for details.
The activities of our Life Groups can be broadly divided into three areas:
Preparation
Preparation is the way we describe our time together in prayer, Bible study and discussion as we seek to build and maintain the foundations of our faith. It’s preparation because it is the undergirding of our whole life and of our work for …
Service
Service is the outworking of God’s plan to make Himself known through our neighbourhood locations and, when the opportunity presents, any other part of the world! Locally, we seek to do this through such things as neighbourhood gatherings (for example, a barbecue or a garden party), friendship or support visitation in our area, local community projects and any other opportunities that we can creatively think of.
Fellowship
All that we do in these groups is fellowship — our expression of friendship and community life. Along with prayer, Bible study and serving, we also simply enjoy each other’s company sharing meals together and taking part in activities such as bowling, picnics, walking, sports etc.
Autumn Courses
Its good to build established relationships over a period of time but it is also good to relate outside your normal social group from time to time. Our Autumn Courses provides for this in a practical and interesting way. Click here for details
